Durante o percurso nas levadas em direcção ao Risco e às 25 Fontes, no que respeita à fauna é muito frequente a observação de alguns pássaros, sendo um deles o tentilhão, que deixa-se observar com muita facilidade.
Pertencente à subespécie endémica do arquipélago da Madeira, habita em zonas de floresta indígena ou exótica. O seu ninho é feito com musgo, ervas, raízes e penas, unido por meio de teias de aranha, e encontra-se muitas das vezes em árvores altas.
A presença constante do tentilhão ao longo das levadas, resulta da habituação desta espécie com a permanente passagem dos muitos turistas e madeirenses que por ali desfrutam dos seus passeios a pé e que simpaticamente oferecem migalhas das suas merendas a estas aves, que encontram nesta relação um dos recursos disponíveis para a sua alimentação diária.

Along the Levada (watercourse) towards Risco and 25 Fontes, and regarding wildlife, it is very common to observe some birds, one of them the Madeira Chaffinch, which lets itself be easily observed.
Belonging to the endemic subspecies of the Madeira archipelago, this bird lives in areas of indigenous or exotic forest. Its nest is made of moss, herbs, roots and feathers joined together by spider webs, and it is often found in tall trees.
The constant presence of the chaffinch throughout the Levadas (watercourses) results from the accommodation of this specie to the daily movement of many tourists and locals who, while enjoying their walks, kindly offer crumbs of their meals to these birds .The birds find d in this friendly approach a potential source for daily nutrition.

Was die Fauna betrifft kann man üblicherweise auf den Levada-Wanderwegen in Richtung Risco und 25 Fontes (25 Quellen) einige Vogelarten entdecken, unter anderem den Madeira-Buchfinken, welcher sich besonders leicht beobachten lässt.
Er gehört zu einer endemischen Untergattung des Archipels von Madeira und kommt in einheimischen wie auch exotischen Waldarten vor. Zum Nestbau verwendet er Moos, Kräuter, Wurzeln und Federn, die mit Hilfe von Spinnweben zusammengehalten und in vielen Fällen hoch in den Bäumen gebaut werden.
Die ständige Präsenz der Madeira-Buchfinken entlang der Lavada-Wege resultiert aus der Tatsache, dass sich die Vögel an die vielen Touristen und Einheimischen gewöhnt haben, die bei den Wanderungen an ihnen vorbeimarschieren und freundlicherweise Krümel ihrer Jausenmahlzeiten mit ihnen teilen. Die Vögel finden in dieser freundlichen Annäherung eine mögliche Quelle zur täglichen Ernährung.
