FAROL DA PONTA DO PARGO

O Farol da Ponta do Pargo está situado no concelho da Calheta, na  extremidade  mais  a oeste  da  Ilha da Madeira  e   começou  a  funcionar  em 5 de  Junho  de  1922.  

Foi   construído   no alto  do  rochedo  chamado  Ponta Vigia, por   ter   uma  costa  marítima  perigosa  para   a   navegação.   Apresenta-se com  uma  altura de 14 metros  e está situado a  uma  cota  de  312 metros  do mar, o que o distingue como sendo o farol mais alto de Portugal.  

O miradouro existente neste local  possibilita  a todos os seus visitantes, usufruírem de  uma vista   única  sobre  o   oceano   atlântico. 


O farol  situa-se  na  freguesia  com  o mesmo  nome,   este    último   originário do  nome de  um  peixe, que  existe  nos mares  da  Madeira  e  que é  abundante nesta  zona  do  litoral.   


Foi pretexto para   que    os    primeiros    povoadores  atribuíssem a esta ponta mais ocidental da  ilha  da  Madeira a designação  de  Ponta do Pargo. 

LIGHTHOUSE OF PONTA DO PARGO

The lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo is situated in the district of Calheta, at the far west of Madeira Island and began to work on June 5, 1922. It was built on top of the rock called Ponta Vigia, because of the coastline that was dangerous to navigation. It presents itself with a height of 14 meters and is located at a quota of 312 meters from the sea, which distinguishes it as the tallest lighthouse in Portugal. The existing observation deck allows all visitors to enjoy a unique view over the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is located in the parish of the same name (Ponta do Pargo), the latter originating from the name of a fish, which exists in the seas of Madeira and is abundant in this area along the coast. This was the reason why the first settlers That was the reason why the first settlers of this western point (= Ponta) of the island gave the name of Ponta do Pargo.

LEUCHTTURM VON PONTA DO PARGO

Der Leuchtturm von Ponta do Pargo liegt im Verwaltungskreis von Calheta, im äußersten Westen der Insel Madeira und besteht in seiner Funktion seit 5. Juli 1922. Er wurde auf dem höchsten Felsen namens Ponta Vigia errichtet, da sich in diesem Bereich der Insel ein besonders gefährlicher Küstenabschnitt für die Schifffahrt befindet. Der Turm ragt 14 m in die Höhe insgesamt 312m über dem Meeresspiegel, hiermit ist er der höchstgelegene Leuchtturm Portugals. Von der Aussichtsterrasse vor Ort können alle Besucher den einzigartigen Blick auf den atlantischen Ozean genießen. Der Leuchtturm wie die Gemeinde, in der er steht, tragen denselben Namen Ponta do Pargo, letzterer leitet sich vom Namen eines Fisches (pargo = gemeine Meerbrasse) ab, der in den Gewässern Madeiras und besonders hier an diesem Küstenabschnitt vorkommt. Das war der Grund, warum die ersten Siedler diesem westlichsten Punkt (= ponta) der Insel den Namen Ponta do Pargo verliehen.

Dedicada   à promoção e divulgação das  Artes  Plásticas,  a Galeria  dos  Prazeres,  surge  num  meio rural,  associando-se  a  um projecto que visa  desenvolver  na população  local,  hábitos  culturais.  

Caracterizada  por   assumir   uma programação  arrojada,  apresentando anualmente   exposições   e  projectos  específicos  para  as  suas  duas  salas  de exposições,  convida  artistas  locais, nacionais    e    internacionais,    além   de  estabelecer  importantes  parcerias com várias instituições de inegável prestigio nesta área.  

Está integrada na  Quinta  Pedagógica  dos  Prazeres, e assume desta forma o seu importante papel de descentralização cultural, em especial  na área  das  Artes  Plásticas, acreditando  que  todos  têm  direito  ao livre  acesso   à  cultura  como  forma  de desenvolvimento   pessoal   e   colectivo.

ARTGALLERY OF PRAZERES

Dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of Plastic Arts, the Gallery of Prazeres emerges in rural environment, joining a project created to develop cultural habits in the local population. Gallery of Prazeres is characterized by the quality of its programes, offering annual exhibitions and specific projects in its two showrooms, inviting local, national and international artists, as well as establishing important partnerships with various institutions of undeniable prestige in this area. This Gallery is part of the “Quinta Pedagógica dos Prazeres “ (Educational Farm of Prazeres), and thus assumes the important role of cultural decentralization, especially in the area of Plastic Arts, believing that everyone is entitled to free access to culture as a vehicle of personal and collective development.

GALERIE VON PRAZERES (GALERIA DOS PRAZERES)

Die Galerie von Prazeres entstand hier im ländlichen Umfeld mit der Zielsetzung, bildende Künste zu fördern und zu verbreiten und die kulturellen Gewohnheiten der lokalen Bevölkerung zu erweitern. Sie erlangte bereits Bekanntheit durch ihre gewagte Programmgestaltung und lädt jährlich lokale, wie nationale und internationale Künstler zu Projekten und Ausstellungen ein, die spezifisch für die beiden Ausstellungsräume gestaltet werden. Im Weiteren stellt sie wichtige Partnerschaften auf diesem Gebiete mit unterschiedlichen Institutionen unbestreitbaren Prestiges her. Die Galerie ist Bestandteil der Quinta  Pedagógica  dos  Prazeres (pädagogischer Bauernhof von Prazeres) und trägt auf diese Weise zur kulturellen Dezentralisierung, im Besonderen auf dem Gebiete der darstellenden Kunst bei, in der Überzeugung, dass jeder ein Anrecht hat auf freien Zugang zur Kultur als eine Form der persönlichen und kollektiven Entwicklung.

PARAPENTE

É uma modalidade  desportiva  nascida em  Portugal  nos  finais  dos  anos 80 com significativo número de adeptos praticantes  na ilha da Madeira.  

O Concelho da Calheta apresenta   boas  condições para a prática deste desporto.  Existem  diversos  locais  de  início de voo no Concelho escolhidos pelos participantes de parapente, de acordo com a sua experiência, notando-se contudo uma maior aderência dos “parapentistas” por locais situados na freguesia do Arco da Calheta. 

Os “voadores” podem assim usufruir das paisagens deslumbrantes e do azul do mar, que são proporcionadas nesta zona onde não faltam momentos únicos e de rara beleza. Poderá fazer o seu voo de baptismo e aprender  a  voar  contactando o Aeroclube da Madeira.

PARAGLIDING

Paragliding is a sport born in Portugal in the late 80's with a significant number of supporters practitioners in Madeira Island. Calheta has good conditions for windsurfing. There are several places to start the flight which are chosen by the paragliders, according to their experience, noting however a better grip of the paragliders for premises in the village of Arco da Calheta. The paragliders can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the view of the deep blue sea, which are offered in this area where there are many moments of rare beauty. GLEITSCHIRMFLIEGEN

Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Sportart, die in Portugal in den späten 80-er Jahre geboren wurde, mit einer erheblichen Zahl an praktizierenden Anhängern auf der Insel Madeira. Die Gemeinde Calheta kann gute Bedingungen für diese Sportart vorweisen. Es gibt diverse Lokale in der Gemeinde, die von den Anhängern als Ausgangspunkt für den Flug je nach Erfahrung gewählt werden, man kann jedoch eine steigende Tendenz in der Wahl für die Gemeinde Arco da Calheta beobachten. Die Flieger können hier gleichzeitig atemberaubende Landschaften und das tiefblaue Meeres bewundern, einzigartige Momente rarer Schönheit, welche diese Gemeinde bieten kann. LEVADAS

O Concelho da Calheta é atravessado por algumas levadas dotadas de espaços que possibilitam caminhos com segurança, destacando-se todavia os percursos pedonais iniciados na Casa do Rabaçal em direcção ao Risco e às 25 Fontes, permitindo aos viajantes usufruir da tranquilidade da floresta e das belezas naturais do meio ambiente de que desfrutam. 

Ao chegar ao Risco o caminhante depara-se com uma imponente queda de água originada na Lagoa do vento situada a mais de 100 metros de altura em relação ao lago que recebe as águas escorridas pela montanha, proporcionando àqueles que visitam aquele local momentos de beleza inesquecíveis. 

Por outro lado a Lagoa das 25 Fontes formada pela água que desce do Paúl  da Serra surge por detrás da sua parede rochosa. Esta área está integrada na mancha da floresta Laurissilva da Madeira situada no coração da Ilha e é classificada pela Unesco, Património Mundial Natural.

“LEVADA”

Calheta is crossed by some “Levadas” (watercourses) that have secure walking trails, with focus to the one that starts in “Casa do Rabaçal” towards “Risco” and “25 Fontes”, allowing travelers to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the natural environment. Arriving at “Risco” the walker faces a huge waterfall originated at “Lagoa do Vento” which is located more than 100 meters in height above the lake, providing to those who visit that pace unforgettable moments. On the other side, the “25 Fontes” lake formed by the water that comes from Paul da Serra emerges behind its stone wall. This area is integrated into the Laurissilva of Madeira which lies in the heart of the island and is classified by Unesco as World Natural Heritage. 

LEVADA-WANDERUNGEN

Der Verwaltungskreis Calheta ist von einigen Levadas (künstliche Wasserläufe) durchzogen, die aufgrund ihrer Breite sicheres Wandern ermöglichen, im besonderen tun sich hier zwei hervor umgeben von atemberaubender Schönheit der Natur und inmitten der Beschaulichkeit des Waldes, beide von Casa do Rabaçal ausgehend, die Levada do Risco und die Levada das 25 Fontes. Bei der Ankunft am Risco bietet sich uns der unvergesslich schöne Anblick eines imposanten Wasserfalls, der seinen Ursprung 100m oberhalb in der Lagune Lagoa de Vento nimmt und dessen herabstürzende Wassermassen am Fuße in einem Becken aufgefangen werden. Auf der anderen Seite des Bergrückens bildet sich die Lagoa das 25 Fontes (Lagune der 25 Quellen) in einem natürlichen Felsenbecken, welches die herabstürzenden Wässer vom Paúl da Serra sammelt. Dieses Gebiet ist Teil des Laurissilva (Lorbeerwaldes) von Madeira, der im Herzen der Insel liegt und von der Unesco als Weltnaturerbe klassifiziert wurde. 

CENTRO DAS ARTES CASA DAS MUDAS

O Centro  das  Artes  Casa das Mudas,  ergue-se  numa  falésia  sobre  o mar , agregado a um edifício  quinhentista  que  na  sua origem    pertencia  à  neta  de  João Gonçalves Zarco, este último descobridor da ilha da Madeira.

Este edifício quinhentista, conhecido por Solar da Casa das Mudas, foi  recuperado no início da  década  de noventa com o  objectivo de proporcionar actividades  de  carácter  cultural. 

A partir  de   1997, viu surgir uma  nova dinâmica,  destacando-se as inúmeras exposições  de  Artes  plásticas,  com artistas  locais,  nacionais  e  internacionais. Esta  dinâmica  de  exposições, acompanhadas pontualmente  com seminários,     colóquios  e  formações ligadas  às  Artes  Plásticas,  veio a justificar a  necessidade  de uma nova infra-estrutura,  capaz de  dar  uma melhor resposta ao número crescente das  actividades  aí implementadas. surgindo desta forma o actual Centro das Artes Casa das Mudas. 

Construído em 2004 e da autoria do arquitecto Paulo  David, caracteriza-se por  um sentido de criação de  território,  de fundação do lugar. Foi nomeado para  a edição de 2005 do prémio europeu de arquitectura contemporânea Mies Vander Rohe. 

Este novo espaço veio contribuir para uma maior oferta cultural através  do programa  diversificado de exposições de artes plásticas que tem vindo a apresentar, sendo complementado com  programação realizada ao nível dos espectáculos. Possui salas de exposições, auditório, biblioteca, loja/livraria, cafetaria, restaurante.

CASA DAS MUDAS ART CENTER

The Casa das Mudas Art Center is situated on a cliff overlooking the sea, attached to a building that , in the 16^th century, originally belonged to the granddaughter of João Gonçalves Zarco, the latter discovered Madeira Island. This sixteenth-century building, known as the Solar of Casa das Mudas, was recovered in the early nineties with the aim of providing cultural activities.  From 1997 on, there was a new dynamic in the center, highlighting the numerous plastic art exhibitions, with local, national and international artists. This dynamic of regular exhibitions, together with occasional workshops, seminars and training courses related to the Arts, came to justify the need for a new infrastructure that could better respond to the growing number of activities organized until the moment, which gave origin to Casa das Mudas Art Center. Built in 2004 and designed by the architect David Paul, Casa das Mudas is characterized by a sense of creating territory, of founding a place. Paulo David was nominated for the 2005 edition of the Mies Vander Rohe European prize for contemporary architecture. This new space has contributed to a greater cultural offer through diversified art exhibitions program complemented with other type of programs and shows. Casa das Mudas has exhibition halls, an auditorium, a library, a gift shop / bookstore, a cafeteria and a restaurant.

KUNSTHAUS (CENTRO DAS ARTES) CASA DAS MUDAS

Das Kunsthaus Casa das Mudas, wurde auf einer Felsklippe über dem Meer in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft eines Gebäude aus dem 16. Jahrhundert errichtet, welches der Enkelin von João Gonçalves Zarco gehörte, dem Entdecker der Insel Madeira. Dieses Gebäude aus dem sechzehnten Jahrhundert, auch bekannt als Solar da Casa das Mudas, wurde am Anfang der neunziger Jahre mit dem Vorhaben renoviert, dort kulturelle Veranstaltungen anzubieten. Ab 1997 konnte eine neue Dynamik beobachtet werden, im Besonderen aufgrund unzähliger Ausstellungen im Bereich der bildenden Kunst lokaler, nationaler und internationaler Künstler. Die Vielzahl an Ausstellungen, vervollständigt durch gelegentliche Workshops, Seminare und Schulungen auf dem Gebiet der bildenden Künste, führte die Notwendigkeit zur Schaffung einer neuen Infrastruktur vor Augen, die besser auf die zunehmende Anzahl an Veranstaltungen reagieren könne. Infolgedessen wurde das Kunsthaus Casa das Mudas errichtet. Das von Architekten Paulo David entworfene und 2004 erbaute Werk charakterisiert sich durch, dass es einen Verweil-Ort mit einer eigenen Identität schafft. Das Gebäude wurde 2005 für den europäischen Preis für zeitgenössische Architektur Mies van Rohe nominiert. Die neuen Räumlichkeiten tragen zu einem größeren, kulturellen Angebot durch das vielfältige Programm an Ausstellungen bei und durch ein ergänzendes Programm an Aufführungen. Das Zentrum verfügt über Ausstellungsräume, Auditorium, Bibliothek, Buchladen, Café und Restaurant.
